Suspected kidnappers Wednesday abducted Permanent Secretary, Adamawa State Ministry of Minerals Resources, Emmanuel Piridimso.
Public Relations Officer, Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident, saying the police had sent the Inspector-General of Police’s Rapid Response Team to track down the kidnappers and rescue Piridimso.
A member of the Piridimso family who pleaded anonymity told the media in Yola, the state capital, that the abductors invaded the residence of the Permanent Secretary at the Clerk Quarters opposite the Anglican Cathedral around 3.20am and whisked him away at gunpoint.
The family member added: “The men came bearing two guns and abducted the Permanent Secretary at gunpoint. They took away his mobile telephone and that of his wife. We tried to no avail to contact the victim through his telephone number, but the abductors refused to pick our calls. As of the time we are speaking, the abductors have yet to contact us.”
