167 Bag First Class As UDUS Graduates 22,932

The Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) is set to graduate 22,932 students out of which 167 are first class graduates in its combined 38th, 39th, 40th and 41st convocation

”Of these numbers according to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Lawal Bilbis, 18,644 will receive various Bachelor’s Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates. 18, 217 will receive Bachelor’s Degrees and 427 will receive various certificate of higher degrees and Postgraduate Diplomas. Of this number, 296 will receive Doctoral Degrees, 1,322 will receive Masters Degrees, while 2,670 will receive Post-Graduate Diplomas in their relevant programmes”.

Speaking further, Prof. Bilbis disclosed that 167 will be graduating with first class degrees, 3,486 with Second Class Upper, 9,573 with Second Class Lower and 15 with Pass degrees.

Addressing reporters on Monday at the University Senate Chambers, Prof Bilbis noted that convocation does not stop at the euphoria of celebration of the academic achievements alone rather it provides an avenue for a sober reflection of the past, present and picture the expected future.

While noting that the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu will be presenting a paper on, “”Navigating the Maze: Addressing Multi-Dimensional Insecurity Challenges In Northern Nigeria”, Prof Bilbis submitted that he was optimistic that the security situation in Nigeria will soon be a thing of the past.

“Nigeria is very close to the end of the tunnel when peace will return unhindered” he enthused.

According to him, academics are working tirelessly to change the narration for good and help provide workable solutions to the challenges.
