A story building under construction belonging to the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Movement on Monday collapsed in Asaba Delta state capital at about 6pm.

Our correspondent, who was at the scene of the incident, gathered that the collapsed building is a regional headquarters of the church under construction with the another smaller old building inside where members worship pending the completion of the main building were destroyed.

Some worshipers and residents around the mammy market areas of the streets gathered at the scene on Tuesday thanking God for his mercy, saying that the building would have collapsed on Sunday but for God’s mercy and many worshippers could have been killed if it occurred during church service.

But eyewitnesses revealed that 20 people died while four persons who were working on the building sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital.

However, it was gathered that the senior pastor who was newly posted to the church few weeks ego, denied that people died at the collapsed building site.

A source claimed that the senior pastor and other top elders of the church were invited by the police for questioning over the collapsed building.
