The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 General Elections Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, has vowed to revamp critical sectors of the state if elected governor .
Yilwatda, who paid a courtesy call on members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) at the union’s state secretariat in Jos, said the media were critical partners in the election.
He thanked the people of the state for their support before and during the primaries, stressing that he would not let them down if elected governor.
Yilwatda stressed that his policies put in the “ACCESS” acronym was based on the principle of governing Plateau without any ethnic or religious sentiments.
In his words, ” I shall consider security as a cardinal point, security is fundamental because we need to protect our children”.
Yilwatda stress that this will be captured through effective use of drones and community vigilante groups.
He added that he would work to ensure the state was united if voted into office.
Yilwatda stressed that “I have come to empower the people of Plateau state and to make sure plateau state is a haven for all irrespective of Religion or tribe
He also vowed to focus attention on rural development if elected governor. “Proper education must be given to our children, we would carry every one along in governance.”
Yilwatda also promised to be accountable, accessible and responsive to the needs of the people for the development of the state .
He said more public schools with adequate facilities would be provided in the rural areas, adding that education was key to development.
His words: “I promise to give priority to youth empowerment as I would set aside 10 percent of the Internally Generated Revenue of the state for vulnerable people in Plateau. We would build business hubs and revamp agriculture.
“We all know that the future belongs to the youths who are innovative and industrious, they are also the bedrock for development if empowered.”
“I will empower the youths to realise their full potentials and that will be one of my key priorities if given the mandate. I want to also state that if given the opportunity to serve, I will be accountable and responsive to the problems confronting the people of Plateau.”
He also promised to bring back night life in the state and create business opportunities for citizens of the state .
He called on the people of the state to support his aspiration and ensure he gets elected as governor .
Receiving Yilwatda, chairman, NUJ Plateau, Paul Jatau thanked him for the visit and urge him to have an open-door policy where everyone can have access to him for the growth of the state.
