2024 Review: Police Arrest 575 Suspects In Sokoto

The Sokoto police command arrested 575 suspected criminals in 2024, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ahmad Rufai has disclosed. 

Rufai, who is the Public Relations Officer of the Command made this disclosure in a statement signed by the Commissioner of Police (CP), Ahmad Musa, made available to newsmen on Wednesday, 1 January 2025. 

According to him, the Command equally recorded massive recovery of weapons like “‘1 General Purpose Machine Gun GPMG with 6 rounds of live ammunitions, 9 AK-47 rifles, 3 Magazines and 341 rounds of live ammunitions, 4 Locally made AK-47 rifles and two live ammunitions, 1 Locally made Pistol, 1 Dane Gun, 3 Motor vehicles and Tanker truck.”

Other achievements  include the recovery of, “97 rustled cows, 29 sheep,1 Donkey and  rescued 27 kidnapped victims”. 

Giving the categories of the offences for which the suspects were arrested ASP Rufai mentioned them to include “Culpable Homicide, Rape, Vandalism, Drug Abuse, Motorcycle snatching, activities of Fraudsters, Animal Rustling and Armed Robbery.

While stressing that Ahmad Musa the  48th State Commissioner of Police is committed to the safety and security of citizens, the statement affirmed that he  upholds the values of justice, fairness, and accountability.

The CP, Ahmad Musa, who noted tha he remained committed to ensuring that the state remained safe, at all times, added they were implementing innovative strategies to tackle emerging security challenges, fostered stronger community partnerships, and enhanced welfare and training programmes for their officers and men.
