Six days after he was abducted by yet-to-b- identified gunmen a popular musician in Adamawa State, Ado Halliru alias Ado Daukaka, had regained his freedom after he was dumped unconscious along Lamurde road in southern part of the state, family and security sources have confirmed.
Daukaka was kidnapped after his new album, which condemned corrupt practices, hit the airwave.
Before the confirmation of his return, Muhammad Faisal a close friend of Ado Daukaka told the media that “earlier today we got a called from Lafia-Lamurde that Ado Daukaka was found by villagers on the road. We are on our way to see the reality,” said.
It was gathered that the popular musician was whisked away at his office and kept in a secluded house in the state capital and later dumped at Lamurde about 80 kilometres away fromYola.
He was taken to a nearby police outpost before being rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
In a fear-laden voice, Daukaka, who is recuperating in a private clinic in Lafia-Lamurde told The Dream Daily on phone : ”It was really terrible but thank be to Allah that I am now freed. Some strange fellows called my GSM line saying that they were interested to strike a deal on an album I earlier composed for former Kano State Governor Kwankwaso, claiming that they were from Kano. So they wanted me to meet with them in the night, which I declined.
“But they lured me into believing that they meant business, so on the fateful day, Friday, one of them accosted me on my way to the mosque and after morning prayer, Subh the man told me that they were waiting for me ,because according to him, they were already on their way back to Kano.
‘’So we proceeded to my shop and on reaching there, the man that accosted me, pointed to one car that was parked closed to the shop saying that they are together and his boss is in the car during which they asked me to enter the parked vehicle to peruse the names they wanted me to compose a song for them. As soon I entered their vehicle one of the three guys pointed his gun at my neck and blinded my eyes and they took off.
‘’They asked why I was poke nosing into some people affairs? I was not manhandled because they provided food for me, but I declined it. Instead I only asked for biscuit and milk.
“After about three days, another group took me to another hidden place and I was later dumped along Lamurde. I sincerely thanks all and sundry who held fervent prayers for my release,” Ado Daukaka recalled.
However, when contacted the police spokesman in the state, SP Othman Abubakar, said: “We are not aware as at the time of this call.’’
