ABU VC Charges Matriculating Students To Be Of Good Behaviour

Vice Chancellor (VC), Ahmadu Bello Zaria University (ABU) Zaria, Prof. Ibrahim Garba, has charged matriculating students resident at the Kaduna State College of Education Gidan Waya against antisocial behavior, to pave way for peaceful, stable and conducive teaching and learning environment.
In a message to the matriculation ceremony of 689 students at the temporary campus of the college in Kafanchan on Thursday, the VC told the students that the purpose of being admitted into the university was to acquire knowledge and skills that will enable them to be useful to the Creator, themselves and society at large.
Represented by the Dean, Faculty of Education, ABU, Prof. Yahaya Korau Kajuru, the VC said the process of achieving these noble goals and objectives, required peaceful and stable environment.
He particularly admonished the students against examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse and indecent dressing.
Prof. Garba said the goal of ABU and its affiliate institutions was to produce students with good character and capacity not only of receiving and impacting knowledge but creating knowledge that will make them independent, critical, creative and highly innovative.
Administrator of the Kaduna State College of Education, Prof. Emmanuel Joseph Chom, said the institution was working hard to meet the accreditation standards of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and ABU in particular, especially in the sciences.
While appreciating the ABU Authorities for running the undergraduate programs in the college, Prof. Chom called on the students to adhere to rules and regulations governing their stay in the institution.
The administrator told them to work hard to excel in their chosen courses of study.
The oath of matriculation was administered on the students by the Registrar of ABU, Alh. A.A. Gundila, who was represented by Alhaji Aminu Sultan Ibrahim also from ABU.
