Adamawa Council Chairman Secures Prisoners’ Release

Chairman, Maiha Local Government, Adamawa, Idi Aminu, has secured the release of 10 prisoners from Maiha Prisons , Adamawa by paying their court-imposed fines.

Idi said the prisoners were mostly indigent youths between 25 and 30 years old. He also empowered them with money to start small businesses,

Responding on behalf of others released inmates, Abdulwahab Abubakar, who is from Mubi and was in prison for phone theft and was unable to pay a fine of N7,500, said Idi has saved him from having a thwarted destiny.

He appreciated the chairman for the gesture and assured that the money provided to them will help them start something productive and they will never come back to crime again.
The officer in charge of Maiha Prison, Ahmed Tuntun Hardawa, said Aminu set a record in Maiha as the first politician to secure the release of prisoners.

He thanked the chairman and call on other politicians to do same “because the prisons across the country need decongestion and many inmates are there for bailable offences.
