Secretary to the state Government (SSG) in Adamawa, Dr Buba Bindir, on Monday revealed that only Adamawa in the entire country that has over 48 permanent secretaries with hundreds of directors, yet the state operates on weak policies.
He lamented that the permanent secretaries in the state were more than those in the Federal Government, adding that the office of the deputy permanent secretary was unconstitutional created, as it only existed in Adamawa and nowhere else in the country.
Bindir stressed that there was the need to streamline the ministries to cut down cost of governance.
“All these Perm Sec, Deputy perm Sec and directors are excellent graduates. With some of them in our schools, the education system will be better,” Bindir said
He added that because of bad governance in the past, Governor Muhammadu Jibrila Bindow inherited a myriad of problems.
Bindir alleged that the past administration succeeded in transferring weak policies to Bindow with virtually nothing on ground working.
The SSG stated this at a media briefing organized by the state’s ministry of finance in Yola to explain to the people of the state the issue concerning the bailout loan that the governor incurred to settle all outstanding salaries and pension arrears.
According to Bindir, the health and education systems were comatose and in need of urgent attention to rescue them from total collapse and the bailout loan became a timely intervention to save the state.
But he said with Bindow Social Change (BSC) agenda, there is certainly going to be light at the end of the tunnel for Adamawa.
