The senators representing Adamawa Central Senatorial Zone and the southern senatorial zone in the National Assembly have expressed their commitment to empowering the youth of the state in order to take them away from joining bad companies to terrorise the state and the country.
The senators – Muhammad Abubakar Malamyidi and Abdulaziz Nyako – stated this during their visit to the state to commiserate with the government and people of Adamawa over last Friday’s bomb blast in Yola, the state capital, in which 32 people were killed and 92 injured.
Senator Muhammad Abubakar Malamyidi, who spoke on behalf of the duo, gave the assurance at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola said that poverty and lack of viable skills were the major factors that contributed to the menace of Boko Haram insurgents.
However, he advised the youths to remain resolute and shun with anybody who might want to induce them with money to join the terrorist group.
Also on the senators’ entourage were Sarki Abba, Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Ibrahim Bapetel, Adamawa Co-ordinator of the Buhari Campaign Organisation.
Mallamyidi stressed the need for more prayers and security consciousness by residents of the state.
He commended the stakeholders for striving to improve the status of the less-privileged in the society.
In his remark, Bapetel commended President Buhari for directing a high-powered delegation to visit families who lost their loved ones and the injured in the Borno and Adamawa bomb blasts.
Bapetel also commended the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. David Lawal Baba, for his condolence visit to the state.
He called on residents of Adamawa to unite against the insurgents, adding that the military were doing their best to see that they meet President Buhari’s order to them to wipe out Boko Haram by December.
