Mrs. Shanti Sashi, Adamawa Commissioner for Solid Minerals, has confirmed that the state government, Dangote Group of Company and three foreign firms have signed agreement to establish three large capacity cement factories in the state.
Sashi in an interview with reporters in Yola on Monday announced that the agreement had reached advanced stages.
She said: “We have signed agreement with Dangote Group of Company and three others foreign companies and we are now looking for Federal Government Licence. The state government has approved and we are waiting for federal certificate to hand over to the investors.”
According to the commissioner, the state has huge deposit of limestone and gypsum which can last for over one hundred years.
Sashi listed Dangote Group of Company, Smart Group, a US based firm, BTP Swiss International and a Chinese firm as the companies that expressed their interest in the cement deal.
She explained that Adamawa was one of the high rich geographical areas in the World as far as mineral resources is concern
Her words: “There are no minerals in the mineral Kingdom that is not found in the state. According to the team of Geoscientists the whole southern part of the state comprising Guyuk, Numan,Lamurde, Demsa and Mayo-Belwa as well as Jada, Ganye and Toungo local government areas are sitting on limestone and gypsum deposits.”
Sashi stated that some of the companies would start mounting their cement production machines before the end of this year.
She further explained that Dangote Group would set up production in Guyuk, which the state government had started working on by speaking with the Guyuk community, stressing that negotiations have reached advanced stage.
The commissioner explained that the state government was making effort to avoid dependence on federal allocations.
