Women in Adamawa state have been charged to support the developmental strides of Governor Jibrilla Bindow and encourage him to do more.
Abdullah Bakari, “Team Bindow” coordinator who gave the call yesterday while meeting with women groups disclosed that the governor was compassionate about women and youth.
According to him, “women as our mothers, wives, sisters and daughters have a crucial role to play in encouraging Bindow on the platform of Team Bindow.”
Bakari made it clear that Team Bindow was not part of any campaign strategy nor was it funded by the government but a Non-Governmental Organization that serves as an umbrella body to over 200 associations which have pledged their loyalty to the state governor.
“Some mischief makers derive joy by unnecessarily criticizing the governor, but we are ready to project and protect the focus, vision, principles and objectives of this administration”, he stated.
The coordinator said that there were “tangible and intangible achievements of Governor Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla, which are restoration of peace and normalcy in the once insurgents ravage local government, the massive road constructions in the twin towns of Jimeta – Yola and Mubi, the renovation and rehabilitation of General Hospitals which include the Specialist Hospital Yola, General Hospitals Numan, Ganye and Mubi, and not forgetting his efforts in refurbishing secondary schools particularly with furniture, instructional materials and professional teachers.
“Team Bindow hopes to promote, protect and defend the programmes and policies of the administration , given the unbelievable development strides attained under the Governor’s stewardship, the motivating and underlying principles of the group would be two-fold-namely: Adamawa First and Amana”, he stated further
Bakari stressed that “Adamawa is the first and is our only agenda. We have seen that our governor is the best so far for Adamawa, this act of doing right and keeping his promise to the people, (Amana) for us and the second principle of this group. We will push for and ensure that the interest of the people of Adamawa State remains sacrosanct”.
He therefore advises the women to have faith in the governor and Team Bindow as their rights will be protected and they will never be forgotten.
Fati Garba Paris, a founding member of Team Bindow and the convener of the women gathering told the women that Bindow means change for the state and women.
According to her, women have been relegated to the background for a very long time but with the coming of the governor, things have change.
“We should put our heads together for our personal and collective progress and that of our beloved Adamawa at large”, she stated.
Paris also called upon the state governor to look into the plight of women and assist them in making their lives better.
It could be recalled that Team Bindow had its inaugural press conference last week. The event which was held under the chairmanship of Senator Silas Zwingina, the team’s coordinator Abdulahi Bakari hosted members of the press, politicians, civil servants as well as youth from all works of life.
The group aims to project and protect the good work of Governor Bindow and also encourage him to honour his promises to the people of the state.
