Contrary to the claim by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that Senator Ahmadu Ali, a one-time national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP had left the party, the Niger state chairman of the party has denied the claim, saying “Ahmadu Ali is still in the PDP”.

“Ahmadu Ali is still in the PDP, he is participating in all our activities, he has not left us he has no plans to leave us”, Alhaji Tanko Beji Niger state chairman of the PDP declared in Minna on Tuesday .

Tanko Beji, who fielded questions from newsmen in his office, said senator Ahmadu Ali also a former board of trustees member had been contributing positively to the resolution of the crisis plaguing the party.

He however refused to be dragged into exchange of words with former President Obasanjo saying ” he is an elder statesman who has served this country meritoriously, we should allow him time to have his deserved rest”.

Former President Obasanjo had said last weekend during one of the events to mark his 80th birthday that the PDP sank after Senator Ahmadu Ali and himself quit the party.

However, Tanko Beji who acknowledged that the party was going through hard times of recent declared that “what is happening is confusion everywhere, personal interests have taken over general interests. This must be jettisoned for the crisis to be resolved.

He said the incumbent government is the first enemy of the party saying “APC have moles in our party, they are our major problem”.

The Niger state PDP chairman who is also an advocate of getting “political solution to the crisis” however said the Supreme Court would not bring about the needed solution that would ensure the party forged ahead.

According to him “there was no way the party would come out as one after the Supreme Court judgment, one party must feel aggrieved while the other will only be happy with half of the team thereby justifying the need for political solution to the crisis.

Notwithstanding Tanko Beji was optimistic that ” PDP will come out stronger from this crisis. We would soon overcome our problems”.

Beji said what was interesting and critical in the PDP feud “is that we have all resolved to find lasting solution to the crisis, we will come out of the crisis stronger. Nigerians still love PDP if another party had gone through this type of crisis that party would have gone into extinction “.
