AIG Zone 2, Aderanti, Charges Schools On Security

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Kayode Aderanti, has urged schools to invest more in the security of their facilities.
He made the call at the security lecture he delivered to stakeholders, who included parents/guardians and management, of Corona School, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Amongst other things, the AIG urged school owners to have functional Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) effectively covering their entire facility.
He also charged school managements to do thorough background checks of their teaching and nonteaching staff before employing them, assuring them that the police was always available to fully deploy the services of its Central Criminal Registry (CCR) in this regard.

In addition, AIG Aderanti, called on school managements to interface with the nearest police division, conduct regular drills in preparation for emergencies, participate actively in the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and the recently launched Eminent Persons Forum.
On the part of government, AIG Aderanti suggested that security should be made one of the requirements in the issuance of licences to schools.
The school management, parents and guardians expressed their appreciation for such an opportunity, where they got answers to long standing questions and learned new things about security and the Nigeria Police.
