The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Muhammaduw Buhari on Saturday commissioned a Cancer Screening Centre, an initiative of the wife of Niger State governor, Dr. Amina Abubakar Bello.

The occasion also formally ushered in the take-off of Raise Foundation – a reproductive, advocacy, safe spaces and empowerment pet project of the wife of Niger State governor.

A statement issued and signed by Aisha Wakaso, the Press Secretary to Dr Bello in Minna, said that the devastating and colossal effect of the dreaded ailment of Cancer, especially among women informed the establishment of the Screening Centre to enable early detection of the ailment and to provide treatment.

“Records have shown that Cancer, especially the Cervical Cancer has led to early and untimely death of women in recent time. This is being occasioned by inadequate screening centre for early detection and treatment.

“The Raise Foundation Cancer Screening Centre was built to feel the gap, complement state government healthcare delivery programmes and help in drastically reduce the devastating effect of Cancer among women and help them to contribute meaningfully to the socio, economic and political development of the state,” Wakaso stated.
