Akwa Ibom Deputy Governor Tasks Nigerians On Environment

The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Moses Frank Ekpo, has re-emphasize the need for Nigerians to sustain high environmental standards as a means of promoting healthy living and longevity of life.
The deputy governor made the plea at Abak Local Government Area while addressing the indigenes at the flag-off of the environmental sanitation exercise organized by Abak Local Government Council.
Ekpo who participated in the exercise urged the council to make sure that the lost glory of the local government area was redeemed in the area of sanitation.
While calling for the sustenance of the exercise, he promised to support what is good for the area and the state at large. “I will continue to support what is right for the local government and what is good for the state and Nigeria at large,” he said.
The Transition Committee Chairman, Barr. Emmanuel Udosen, who also participated in the exercise, frowned at the poor sanitation condition at the urban market and called on the women to ensure that the market was always kept clean.
He promised that the council would provide refuse bins around the market so that the environment will be conducive for them to sell.
He congratulated the state government for building the independence hall and urged it to check the ravine threatening the complex.
He said the objective of the exercise was to restore the lost glory of the council in the area of sanitation, stressing that the exercise would be a monthly event.
He specifically thanked the deputy governor for finding time despite his tight schedule to participate in the exercise and prayed to God to bless him.
