All villages in Akwa Ibom State will be linked to the national grid, Governor Udom Emmanuel has assured.
Consequently, the Ministry of Rural Development has been directed to compile the list of the remaining villages that were not captured in the previous administration’s electrification project.
The governor, who spoke through his Information Commissioner Mr. Aniekan Umanah, after an executive council meeting said government has now introduced a single revenue account for all monies collected by the ministries, departments and agencies in the state.
This decision, he said, was to ensure effective monitoring and efficient management of monies collected on behalf of the state government.
To ensure the cleanliness of the state, and to develop the consciousness of the citizenry in the maintenance of sound environmental habits, the governor said the council has approved a monthly sanitation exercise with effect of this month.
According to the commissioner, a directive has also been given to the Ministry of Special Duties to ensure daily sanitation and environmental cleanliness within and around the Ibom International Airport being a major gateway to the state.
He further disclosed that the Ministry of Health has been directed to review health care laws, with a view to bringing them to acceptable global standard.
