Aliyu Pays Sallah Homage To Sultan, Urges Cooperation Against Insecurity

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu while on a Sallah homage to the Sultan and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Mohammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, appealed for collaborative efforts from all law-abiding citizens towards combating insecurity and banditry in the state. 

Speaking at the Palace of the Sultan, the governor attributed his administration’s successes in the fight against banditry to 

people’s prayers, his genuine support and the renewed commitment of the  security agencies. 

While stating that the recently established Sokoto State Community Guard Corps is playing a crucial role in assisting conventional security forces in securing the state, governor Ahmed also commended traditional institutions for their roles in curbing banditry. 

Continuing, the governor further reiterated his administration’s unwavering support for Islamic propagation in the state and lauded wealthy individuals in the state for establishing feeding centers in their communities to support the less-privileged in the just-concluded Ramadan. 

Aliyu praised Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar for his contributions to Da’awah (Islamic propagation), and called for continued support and advice from the revered traditional ruler.

Responding, Sultan Abubakar commended Governor Aliyu for his various intervention programmes, particularly the support to orphans, the needy, the physically challenged, and Islamic scholars in the state.

 Sultan also praised government’s ongoing infrastructural development and urged the governor to sustain the initiatives for the benefit of the people of the state.

The Sultan called on citizens to continue to offer prayers for their leaders to succeed in their efforts to develop the state and ensure lasting peace.

Those who accompanied the governor for the Sallah homage include high-profile dignitaries, such as Sokoto APC APC leader, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the State Deputy Governor, Idris Muhammed Gobir, Minister of State for Works, Barrister Bello Goronyo, former Deputy Governor, Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo, Sokoto State Chief Judge, Muhammad Sa’idu Sifawa and Sokoto Grand Kadi, Sodangi Achida as well as the State House of Assembly leader, Bello Idris.

A statement by the governor’s Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa listed others to include, the State APC Chairman, Isa Saddiq Achida, Deputy Speaker, Kabir Ibrahim kware, the  

federal lawmaker representing Sokoto South and North, Bala Hassan and that of  Bodinga Shuni/Tureta Nasiru Shehu, the 

Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, Chief of Staff, Government House Sokoto, Aminu Haliru Dikko, scores of Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, traditional rulers, among others.
