The All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked claims on some media platforms by one Daniel Bwala who allegedly said he was the party’s National Legal Adviser, a post he said he has resigned immediately in protest against the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the APC.
Recall that on Sunday the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had picked Borno ex-Governor, Kashim Shettima – another Muslim as Tinubu – as his running mate in the 2023 General Election.
Bwala reportedly made his claim and purportedly resigned while on a television talk-show.
But the APC, in a statement on Monday 11 July, 2023 in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Barr Felix Morka, stressed that Barr. Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq was and remained the APC National Legal Adviser.
Morka wrote: “Our attention has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating on some media platforms that the National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has resigned.
“Barr. Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq is, and remains, the National Legal Adviser of APC.
“Barr. Daniel Bwala was not the National Legal Adviser of the party as erroneously reported.
“The report is either borne out of mischief or extreme negligence. We urge the general public to kindly disregard (it).”
