The Court of Appeal, Yola on Thursday discharged and acquitted former Governor of Adamawa State, Bala James Ngilari, of allegation of wrongful procurement of vehicles meant for state use.
In a two-hour udgment, Justice O. F. Omoleye ruled that Ngilari was not a procurement officer and that the lower court did not give him a fair hearing. She therefore is ”discharged and acquitted” him of all five-count charges levelled against him and for which he was convicted at the lower court before Judge Nathan Musa.
The former governor in his response told journalist: ”I thank God for all things, he has proven that his a God who knows all things.”
Counsel to to Ngilari, Barr Obed Wadzani, thank the presiding judge, stressing that she had rekindle hope in the Nigerian masses by upholding the rule of law.
”My client has been vindicated over the crime he knows nothing about, thanks to all Nigerians who prayerfully stood by us to the very end. It’s now over,” he Said
Recall that on March 3, 2017 an Adamawa High Court in Yola convicted Ngilari for allegedly breaking public procurement law.
