Army Holds Workshop To Strengthen Battle-Winning Mentality

The Nigeria Army Tuesday in Sokoto state commenced a workshop to strengthen battle winning mentality.

The workshop organized by the Department of Army Transformation and Innovation has its theme as, “Optimizing Warrior Ethos In The Nigerian Army: A Panacea For Operational Effectiveness”, and aimed at discussing “Warrior Ethos Chemical, Biological, Readioligical and Nuclear Terrorism”,. 

Speaking before declaring the workshop open, the special guest of honour and Chief of Army Staff, (COAS) Lt. Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, appealed to officers to remain innovative and committed at all times. 

The COAS who was represented by the acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Brig.Gen Ibikunle Ajose said such seminar wil raise necessary operational and situational awareness of the troops. 

Continuing, the COAS said his mission is to “transform the Nigeria Army into a well-trained, equipped and highly motivated force towards achieving responsibilities within a joint environment”.

While stressing that the idea is timely as it will avail participants  better understanding of the key issues to improve on operational effectiveness, the COAS commend the loyalty and dedication to duty of the Nigeria Army, “especially their relentless efforts in decisively dealing with the security challenges in the North-West, Nigeria'”. 

“”Nigeria Army will continue to review it’s tactics, techniques and procedures in order to come up with both kinetic and non- kinetic strategies to defeat these challenges,” the COAS assured. 

On his part, the Chief of Transformation and Innovation, Maj.Gen Zakari Abubakar in an opening remarks, congratulated the acting GOC, saying his appointment was well deserved and came at the right time. 

Maj Gen Abubakar, who urge participants to note that seminars of this nature is sacrosanct to the success of their operations, said understanding “Warriors Ethos and Operational Effectiveness with Operation Hadarin Daji In Perspective”, was crucial. 

He stated that such seminars were amongst the many techniques put in place by the Nigerian Army to navigate challenging situations. 

Continuing, Maj.Gen Zakari said he was optimistic that the workshop would make the desired impact as all invited resource persons were carefully selected from relevant fields. 

The workshop had three lectures on, “Warrior Ethos and Operational Effectiveness: OPHD In Perspective”, “Suppression of Acts of Chemica, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Terrorism and Measures to Combat them” as well as Drugs and Substance Abuse: Implication for Nigeria Army Operational Efficiency”.
