
The Africa Sports Management Association (ASMA) has commiserated with the people and Kano State Government as well as the Nigerian sport family over the death of 22 athletes and officials of Kano State who passed on in a road accident while returning to Kano after participating in the just-concluded National Sports Festival held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
ASMA expressed its condolences through a statement by the association’s President, Prof. Oluwaseun Omotayo.
The statement reads: “The Leadership of Africa Sports Management Association (ASMA) received with shock the news of the fatal motor accident that claimed the lives of twenty-two (22) Kano State athletes while returning to their home State after the 22nd National Sports Festival held in Ogun State, Nigeria.
“The purpose of this message is to express deepest condolences to the families and loved ones affected by the tragic accident. Africa Sports Management Association (ASMA) leadership commiserate with the National Sports Commission, and the Main Organizing Committee (MoC) Kano State Governor and the Kano State Sports Commission, Ogun State Governor and the Local Organizing Committee (LoC) and entire Nigeria Sports community.
“May the departed souls rest in peace, and may the survivors find strength and comfort in this difficult time.
“Let us all be strong at this time while we pray that God Almighty grants us the fortitude to manage the unfortunate situation.”
