Mal. Mohammed Alyasau Sanusi Ladan of Number 53 Zaria Street Kafanchan in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State has been killed by unknown persons, who also robbed him of over N3 Million.
Narrating the ugly incidence to pressmen in kafanchan on Sunday, Alhaji Lawal Garba a nephew of the deceased, said Mohammed was killed on Saturday by unknown persons at a forest near Nkojo Village in Kagarko Local Government Area of the state.
Lawal Garba said the deceased who has been in the ginger business for over six (6) years, was invited by some agents to the village to buy ginger and he went with over N3 million for the business and did not return home.
According to Garba, he went to Kubacha Police Station in Kagarko Local Government on a different issue when he learnt that a dead body was discovered in a forest near Nkojo Village.
He went along with security personal to the scene, where he identified the corps to be that of Late Mohammed.
Lamenting over the incident, the first of its kind, Alh. Hamisu Tijjani one of Mohammed’s brothers advised those dealing in ginger business to avoid going to places with huge sums of money but transact business in markets where there is security
While praying for repose of the soul of the deceased, who has since been buried according to Islamic rites on Sunday, Tijjani appealed to the police and all security agencies to fish out the killers of Mohammed and bring them to justice.
Meanwhile efforts to get official confirmation from the police public relation officer (PPRO) Kaduna police Command Failed as he promised to ring back, after his findings but failed to do so at press time.
A commuter who requested anonymity said ginger business was becoming lucrative and its farming could be maximally boosted to become one of the major revenue sources for government
However, he lamented that people with evil motives were attacking farmers and marketers of ginger in southern Kaduna, where the best ginger in the world is farmed.
He disclosed that a man who had stocked bags of dry ginger in his store, was made to personally load the commodity in a waiting truck at gun point, which sped off without paying a dime.
Recent killings and kidnapping of ginger farmers and businessmen and women in Kagarko, Jaba and other places is generating fear in those dealing on ginger.
