A former Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Razak Atunwa has bemoaned the death of Chief (Mrs) HID Awolowo.
Atunwa, who is currently representing Asa/Ilorin West at the House of Representatives, condoled with the Awolowo’s family and Nigerians over the death of the matriarch.
In a statement by his Media Assistant, Olawale Rotimi, Atunwa described Mrs Awolowo’s life as “admirable and worthy of celebration.” He said “the Awolowo dynasty and its contributions are intrinsically linked with the history of Nigeria, playing crucial roles
prior and after the independence of Nigeria, in fostering peace, unity and progress in the nation.
He noted with delight that “Mama Awolowo sustained the legacies of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, by positioning herself as a source of wisdom for political leaders and reformers in various spheres of affairs in Nigeria.”
Commiserating with the Awolowo dynasty, Yoruba race and Nigerians as a
whole, Atunwa charged Nigerians to uphold the legacies of the duo of Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Hannah Awolowo in taking Nigeria to the desired destination.
He also condoled with the Governor of Ogun state, Mr. Ibikunle Amosun and prayed that the families are comforted by God.
