A former Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ali Chiroma, has alleged that Gen.Ibrahim Babangida introduced corruption into Nigeria during his military regime.
Chiroma made the allegation during the 18th,19th and 20th convocation ceremonies of Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), Yola where he was awarded an honorary doctor of letters degree by the university.
According to him, “”Babangida brought all the corruption we are fighting today for which, during my time as NLC chairman, I fought him and all his corrupt policies. Babangida did not only introduced it but legalised and infused it in the country’s system.
Chiroma recommended that the Constitution should be amended to send any leader found wanting to jail for several years.
However, Chiroma cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari to prosecute the on-going anti-corruption war in line with the rule of law.
