The Recovery Committee of the Bauchi State government has threatened court action against the former ADC to ex-governor of the state, ASP Peter Zakari, over his alleged refusal to return a tractor belonging to the state Ministry of Agriculture.
This was contained in a letter signed by the Chairman of the committee, Air Commodore Ahmed Tijani (rtd), which was addressed to the state commissioner of police dated July 31,2015 with reference number RPP/CORRE/49 and made available to The Dream Daily in Bauchi.
According to the letter entitled “Request for the return of Bauchi State government vehicle-Tractor Massey Forguson 375 with Reg No BA64A02 taken away by former ADC to former Governor Isa Yuguda, ASP Peter Zakari”, the committee informed the commissioner of police that the tractor was not taken in conformity with due process.
The letter read: “You may further wish to note that the committee had made several calls to his GSM numbers, but was unable to reach him. Similarly, several text messages have been sent to the said number, but still there was no response.
“Being an officer that served under your command, we request you to assist the committee to inform the officer to return the said vehicle within 14 days from the date of this letter or face the full weight of the law for criminal conversion.”
The committee said the letter will be copied to the Inspector General of Police and Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 12 Headquarters Bauchi for further action.
