Governor Jibrila Bindow of Adamawa State has reiterated his commitment to eradicating poverty in the state by empowering over 13,000 women and youth to be self-reliant under the first phase of a micro-credit programme as part of his administration’s effort to reduce the level of poverty across the state.
Commissioner of Information, Ahmed Sajoh, who disclosed this while speaking with reporters in Yola, the state capital, said the concept of governance under Bindow was predicated on social change and has four components.
Sajoh maintained that a team has been set up that will embark on advocacy visit to the 226 wards in the 21 local councils in the state with a view to creating public awareness on the process of securing the loan. He charged the people in the state to engage in productive ventures to gain from the programme.
The commissioner also disclosed that the state government would train members of staff of the state-owned Media, public relations officers as well as other media personnel in the state to improve their professionalism.
