Commissioner of Health in Adamawa State, Dr Fatima Abubakar Atiku, has assured that Governor Muhammadu Jibrilla Bindow has a sound plan to rehabilitate damaged hospitals in the state.
According to Atiku, “His Excellency is repositioning the entire state with much priority to the health sector without living any stone unturned with his good policies. Plans are on ground to rehabilitate all damaged hospitals in the 21 local government areas.”
Atiku stated this on a day tour to Mubi and Maiha councils to inspect and take stock of the functionality of their health facilities which have been in a dilapidated condition for over three years.
She revealed that Maiha General Hospital was in deplorable state working only at five per cent capacity: “The ceiling has been ripped apart due to the roof been blown off during rainy season and hospital staff have being working under very unfriendly condition due to the state of the building,” she added.
She also revealed that Mubi General Hospital was manageable as only its water system and mortuary needed to be revamped because it has been previously visited by the past Government.
The commissioner toured the councils with top officials of the ministry, including Executive Chairman ADSPADA, Dr Abdullahi Bellel; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Alhaji Muhmud Abubakar and Dr Lawal Amidu, Executive Chairman HMB.
