Acting Managing Director, Gotel Communications Ltd. Yola, Adamawa State, Mohammed El-Yakub, has urged the media to ensure effective coverage of resettlement process of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the North East.
El-Yakub made the call while receiving the newly elected executives of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ.
El-Yakub said the media has been a major stakeholder in highlighting the challenges in the North East and needed to sustain the tempo by ensuring the resettlement of IDPs and actualization of the North East Development Commission.
El-Yakub said Gotel Communications, which is the first private station comprising radio and television in the North East, was committed to the North East project particularly the actualization of the North East Development Commission in view of its relevance in rebuilding the region.
Chairman of the correspondent chapel, Mallam Yakubu Uba, congratulated the acting managing director for his appointment and lauded the effective role of Gotel Communications in objective coverage of activities not only in Adamawa but in the entire North East.
Uba noted the equal opportunity being provided by Gotel to all categories of people in the zone and urged the new managing director to sustain the tempo.
