Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, reiterated the commitment of Nigerian Army to ensure professionalism in its engagements.
He stated this during a visit to Afaka training camp, Kaduna where Operation UBIAK ISIN is on to train junior commanders to be deployed to North East for mop up operations against the insurgency in the region.
Buratai said upon assumption of office, he promised to make sure the army was much better in terms of professionalism and that he has been working and trailing that line of action.
According to him, “we have serious challenges with junior leadership in the North East especially the Platoon and company levels. I am here to see what is happening especially this phase of their training (outdoor training). To see areas that I will advise the college to focus on in the training of the junior commanders specifically.
“I have seen the high standard of training, facilities and equipment used for the training.
“I have noticed areas that can be improved upon, I know some of them will be going back to the North East and if that is done we will have good junior leadership and they will be able to command the troops effectively.”
The Army chief, who emphasized the importance of the outdoor exercise, urged the junior commanders to put the excellent training given to them to good use in the war front.
