The Adamawa Chapter of the People’s Democracy Party (PDP) has accused President, Muhammadu Buhari of plunging the country into an unprecedented level of inflation, instead of fulfilling his campaign promise of food security.
It accused the President of being lackadaisical to providing affordable food to the people of Nigeria.
The party also distanced itsself from a statement credited to one A.A Lawan Uba accusing the SenatorAhmed Makarfi’s national caretaker committee of the PDP of violating a written agreement that would see former Governor Ali Modu Sherrif ‘s leadership of the party to run it until 2018.
Lawan Uba, who was addressed as a chieftain of the party from Adamawa in one of the national dailies (not The Dream Daily) on Tuesday was allegedly propagating the presidential ambition of Ali Modu Sheriff and castigated President Buhari for not fulfilling its campaign promises to Nigerians.
“We will do everything to convince Senator Ali Sharif to contest for presidency. Many Nigerians are already calling on him to run for president because of his patriotism and concern for common man”, Uba stated.
But the Adamawa PDP in a press statement by its Public Relation Secretary, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Gidado, in Yola threatened to sanction any member who made unguarded statement on the crisis in the party at the national level.
Gidado wrote: “Members should not engage in utterances that would jeopardize effort to resolve problem in the party. Party is hereby cautioning all its members in the state against speaking unguardedly especially at this time when all hands should be on deck to resolve the current impasse in our party. Disciplinary measures will henceforth be applied on all defaulters,” the statement said.
The statement disowned Uba, who addressed the media in Yola claiming to be a party chieftain. It said Uba was not a party chieftain and was not competent to speak for the party “to the extent of condemning the party leadership at the national level.”
