CAN Asks El-Rufai To Drop Religions Regulation Bill

Pastors under the umbrella of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Southern Kaduna have urged the Kaduna State House of Assembly (KSHA) not to pass into law the proposed Religious Bill to protect the rights of the citizens.
The pastors unanimously stated this in their various contributions during a town hall meeting held on Tuesday in Kafanchan to deliberate on the Bill with a view to taking a stand.
The Clerics told the state to rescind its decision on the Bill and instead, consider an Environmental Pollution Bill as a remedy to the perceived challenges posed by religious activities in the State.
A contributor and General Overseer of Versioned of Throne room Trust Ministries, Kafanchan Apostle Emmanuel Kure observed that the bill contained issues that issues that infringed on the rights of the people as contained in the constitution of the Country.
Apostle Kure said the definition given to some words like “preacher” does not apply to the Christian context thereby portraying a different meaning.
Another contributor and General Overseer of Good news Power Base Church Kafanchan, Apostle Emmanuel Egoh Christian would be forced to seek redress in court of law should the State government insist on the passage of the Bill into law.
Apostle Egoh however, warned youths to exercise patience on the issue and desist from taking the laws into their hands.
The forum urged on Christian to embark on prayer and fasting for God’s divine intervention. Earlier, the Convener of the meeting and State CAN Secretary, Rev. Sunday Ibrahim said the meeting was convened to seek the opinion of the Christian community in Southern Kaduna on the Bill that seeks to regulate religious activities in the States.
Rev. Ibrahim said their position on the matter would in no small way influence the State Government’s final decision on the matter.
The meeting had in attendance the clergy across different denominations in Southern Kaduna.
