The people of Ninkyob Chiefdom in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been told to uphold the teachings of Christians and Islamic Holy Books to guarantee peaceful co-existence among them.
Resource persons during a seminar titled ‘One family under One God’ organised by a non-governmental organisation (NGO) “Global Peace Foundation” Reverend John Joseph Hayap and Sheik Haliru Abdullahi Dammaraya, stated this at Ungwan Fari Kaninkon on Tuesday.
The religious leaders observed that there was no chapter or verse in the Holy Books of the two religions that teaches anybody to kill people of other faiths as animals and wondered why people indulge in such barbaric acts.
The clerics observed that the Nigerian constitution respected the fundamental rights of all citizens, but lamented that such rights were often violated.
They appealed to the people to learn to stay together in all circumstances to enhance speedy development of the area.
Responding, the Tum Ninkyob, Mallam Tanko Tete, who was represented by the Marafan Ninkyob, Mr. Samuel Tete, described the seminar as timely.
Mr. Tete assured that the lessons taught will be carried to all the nook and crannies of the chiefdom, to promote harmonious co-existence among all residents of the chiefdom.
