Niger State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has paraded three suspected persons who specialized in the issuance of fake appointment letters of Civil Defence to innocent members of the public.
The NSCDC Commandant in Niger State, Mr Philips Ayuba while parading the suspects before journalists in Minna yesterday, said that the suspects have collected huge amount of money from their victims ranging from N100,000 and N500,000.
Ayuba further disclosed that two of the suspects were arrested in an Abuja hotel while the other person arrested in Kaduna was in charge of printing of appointment letters and other documents including stamp used in perpetuate their evil acts.
He added that they were not on the staff of the NSCDC, noting that it was a victim who they collected N150,000 from and was issued a fake appointment letter was asked to come for training that was first arrested before those behind it.
Those arrested were Isah Jessy Ijafia 26 years, the mastermind, Becke Onyeoha Ogochukwu 30 years (printer) and Lucky Joseph 26years old who is the errand boy of the mastermind.
The commandant advised the general public to be conscious of their dealings with dubious people and informed security agencies appropriately any criminal suspect.
He noted that they were apprehended with appointment letters, list of 8 successful candidates for immigration, stamp and other documents.
The prime suspect Isah Jessy Ijafia who was arrested at one of the luxury hotels in Kubwa FCT in an interview said: “I receive N150,000 from my friend to get him Civil Defence job. The money was to be transferred to the man who will assist us but it turned to be fake and they arrested me”.
Ayuba in an interactive session assured that his men will continued to protect every public utilities in the state hence were in cordite relationship with other security agencies in the state but expressed worried over the office accommodation challenges facing the command.
