Idolatry, immorality, drunkenness and corruption have been identified as sins that bring destruction to a person, families and nations.
The President/General Overseer, Operation Catch The Fire Ministry International Kafanchan, Apostle Emmanuel E. Apostle Bako, speaking on the theme “Lord heal Gwongland and preserve our people” 2nd chronicles 7:14)”, expounded that sins which devour an individual, families, and nations, are idolatry(rebellion against God and worship of other gods) and immorality (sins of homosexuality, lesbianism, adultery and fornication).
Other sins include drunkenness (consumption of illicit drugs and substances, thus defiling the body, the temple of God) and corruption (theft, robbery, nepotism and diversion of public resources and time, for private use) amongst others.
Quoting the Bible “righteousness exalts and individual and a nation”, “a builder builds in vain and a watch man watches in vain without God”, the clergy man who dwell much on Hosea 4:11-16 said these abominable sins, when committed, will not only make God turn away from the guilty, but they will attract disease. generational curses, drought, earthquakes, strange fires, witchcraft and all manners of destructions.
The clergyman explained further “those who do such evils will cause nature to fight them, for it is God who created them for his pleasure and the good of mankind, they will only obey and serve God”.
Apostle Bako therefore warned members of the public, particular by parents, against indulging in acts detestable to God, but live righteously, responsibly, teaching their children godly virtues of the fear and honor of God which will attract his love, peace, security and developmental blessings.
“Repent therefore from your sins, change from rebellion to praising, worshiping and dedicating your families to God let God be your content, so that he will forgive us, heal and bless our land and the country”, he charged.
The second guest speaker at the occasion, Professor Rev. Yusuf Turaki said sins committed, especially by household, community and national leaders, lead to slavery, diseases and deaths, hence the need for Gwong community and Nigerians to resist sin in all ramifications and imbibe and practice godly virtues as a way of life.
Bishop Joseph Danlami Bagobiri, of the Kafanchan Catholic Diocese, a son of the community, who was represented by the priest in charge of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, where the occasion took place, urged Nigerians to examine their ways and questioned “in what ways are you spoiling or destroying your community or Nigeria?”
“Stop those evil acts and begin to contribute meaningfully towards the reconstruction of the country, or else God’s wrath may soon be the end reward of perpetrators” he warned.
In his speech, the paramount ruler of Gwongland, Retired Col. Paul Zakka Wyom told the people not to blame the state Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai for the economic and security challenges in Southern Kaduna.
Rather, the royal father challenged the people to rededicate their lives to God, for divine intervention in all problems, especially economic, social, political, security and peace challenges.
He called on Nigerians, particularly his community members, “do not forget God your Creator and Sustainer, in your daily affairs, but fear Him always by keeping His commandments, nip every problems (especially quarrels) at the bud, imbibe the spirit of forgiveness and tolerance in dealing with one another”.
The President Gwong Development Association (GDA), Prof. Casimir Emmanuel Gimba, had in a welcome address glorified God and appreciated the Kaduna state government for approving the organization of the prayer summit, in place of the annual Gwong day cultural festival.
Prof. Gimba said the present security challenge bedeviling the country, particularly Southern Kaduna, informed the decision to organize a prayer summit, in place of the cultural festival to pray, fast and seek Gods intervention.
