Community Service: Mbakever Honours Terver Atsar, Liz Ahura

Mbakever kindred, Mbagwaza in Ushongo local government area, of Benue State over the weekend honoured two of their illustrious children in recognition for their various contributions to the growth and development of the community.

The honourees include former Benue State PDP governorship aspirant, Engr. Terver Atsar and a United Nations (UN) retired Senior Director, Mrs. Liz Mwuese Ahura.

In his welcome address,  Zaki Justine Bito said the community found the two worthy enough to be honoured given their immense contribution to the upliftment of the community human and physical developments.

While Atsar was honoured for his relentless efforts in community development service including electrification of the community which impacted greatly on Mbakever, Mrs  Ahua was recognized for her commitment to enhancing the lives of children and families through her engagements  with UNICEF and other international organizations.

Speaking at the event, former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Torwua Suswam, appreciated Mbakerver community for fishing out Atsar for recognition and honour.

Sen. Suswam, who was represented at the occasion by a high-powered delegation led by former Council Chairman of Katsina-Ala local government, Hon. Alfred Atera, described Chief Atsar as a developmental minded person that is so close to his chest and encouraged Ushongo people particularly the Mbagwaza community to support him to grow.

Accepting the honour, Atsar said he was humbled and overwhelmed by the display of affection and solidarity for his recognition, describing the title as a burden to spur him to do more for the community.

Chief Atsar cautioned that his desire to cause certain development in the community was never a bargain to earn him a chieftaincy title but his humble efforts to deliberately set a standard and lay foundation for the people of Mbakerver

Chief Atsar assured that he will use his experience, exposure and connections to do the people of Mbakerver proud in order to reciprocate the honour done him.

Highlights of the event include conferment of a chieftaincy title on Atsar as ‘Ivaan Ayange I Mbakever and his wife as Gbande Van U Ivaan I Mbakever, commissioning of a 6- kilometer electricity reticulation project executed by Chief Atsar as well as launching a N10 million appeal fund for the construction of a bridge as well as a clinic in Mbakever community.
