The Registrar, National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof. Godswill Obioma, has passed on at the age of 67.

Prof. Obioma died on Monday night.

However, the circumstances surrounding his passage remain conflicting. A source said Prof. Obioma slumped and died in his room in Minna, Niger state after returning from a trip to Abuja.

But another source contradicted the above claim, saying that the late NECO chief executive officer was assassinated at his Minna home on Monday night.

According to the second source, “the assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything”.

The Police in Niger state are yet to confirm the development.

Prof. Obioma was from Abia State and was appointed NECO Registrar in May 2020.
