As panacea to the scourge of drug abuse in Kaduna state, the Director General Bureau for Substance Abuse, Dr. Isah Shadow Baka, has urged the government to declare a state of emergency on the issue.
Baka stated this at a one-day seminar on “ Skill Acquisition, for teachers on Drug Abuse” held at GSS Kagoro, Kaura Local Government of the state on Wednesday.
The Director General said, a declaration of a state of emergency, would provide for a holistic approach, with a view to minimising its effects on drugs victims, especially the youth in the state in particular and the country in general.
He said the Agency as of now was collaborating with the state ministry of education, NAFDAC, NDLEA and local governments to combat the menace of drug abuse that has eaten deep into the fabric of society.
The occasion featured presentation of three papers on drugs that are abused and their attendant consequences.
It was gathered that the seminar began in zone two of the state, zone three and would move to zone one soon.
