…Sapele Council Chair Begs Over Impeachment
Chairman, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon Henry Baro, has been suspended indefinitely by the Delta State House of Assembly over alleged financial misappropriation and breach of public peace within his council area.
The suspension was sequel to a motion under matters of urgent public importance raised by the Majority Leader and member representing Isoko North, Hon. Tim Owhefere, which was unanimously adopted by the House.
After deliberations on the issue, Speaker of the House, Hon. Monday Igbuya, put it to a voice-vote and the lawmakers overwhelmingly endorsed the indefinite suspension of the council boss.
The House also directed all the 25 local government chairmen to submit all their financial records.
As it were, the House has constituted an ad-hoc committee headed by the Deputy Majority Leader, Mr. Oboro Preyor, to investigate the allegations against the Uvwie council boss
Meanwhile, the chairman of Sepele Local Government Area of the state Barr. Ejiaife Odebala has cried out over an impeachment notice served on him by his councillors.
Odebala, who was a two-time member of the state House of Assembly and also a governorship aspirant, was reportedl to have knelt down in the residence of Delta Speaker Monday Igbuya, begging the latter to order the withdrawal of the impeachment notice served on him.
Investigation revealed that Igbuya and the member representing Sapele constituency were behind the impeachment notice which the Speaker said was issued over alleged misconduct of the council boss.
