The people of Ibusa and Ogwashi-Uku communities have lamented the manner the state government, especially their representatives in government, turned blind eyes to their 10 years in darkness in the communities.
The communities, who protested in Asaba, noted that electricity as one of the social amenities that citizens ought to enjoy was denied the communities.
“We are suffering in the communities, nothing is going on even the small-scale business we have in the communities have all gone down. We are not sure if we are part of Delta state. Our people in the government both in the federal and the state are failures,” a source in the area lamented.
Sources told The Dream Daily that Hon. Pat Ajudua, the member who has been representing Oshimili South in the state House of Assembly for over four times was last week allegedly manhandled by her husband, Chief Fred Ajudua, over the plight of the Ibusa communities.
The source said that Chief Ajudua got angry when the people of his community said that they were voting for his wife just because of his influence, stressing that they could no longer bear her negligence of the community.
The source said Chief Ajudua left Ibusa for the Assembly quarters where he allegedly nearly beat up his wife for not given attention to the community, threatening to close down two of her churches if she failed to find solution to the electricity problem in Ibusa.
Speaking with The Dream Daily over the Ibusa and Ogwashi- Uku darkness, a rights activist and member of the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders(CACOL), Comrade Jude, berated the three lawmakers from the axis that have been in government for decades.
The activist said that their representation were very poor, saying that they were not representing the people rather their selfish interest.
” Hon. Ajudua has been in the House four times without improving the Ibusa community. For past 10 years Ibusa had been in darkness. Is that a good representative? he asked
“Also the man that called himself ‘Oracle’ Sen. Peter Nwauboshi the immediately past chairman of PDP in Delta state has been in government for years. Sen. Nwauboshi who is a former Special Adviser to (ex-Governor James) Ibori on political matters, later commissioner before he became PDP chairman for eight years hails from Ibusa community but never cares about the darkness of his community.”
“Now he is a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Delta North District. He has nothing to offer to his community. If these lawmakers cannot not attend to the plight of the communities, they should leave and allow good representative to comes in. Water, roads, hospital, electricity amongst are major amenities that needed we not politicise” he added.
Comrade Jude recalled how the chairman of Aniocha North Local Government Area restored the electricity of the council in September 2015 after eight years of darkness.
“The Aniocha North Chairman, Hon. Chuks Oseme, who just came into small office as chairman took less than a year to fix the electricity of the council, what a good representative! Hon. Chuks brought smile to the face of his people that is a leader we want in Delta and Nigeria in general,” he said.
