The embattle chairman of Uvwie Local government Area of Delta State, Hon. Baro Henry, who is currently on suspension has been declared wanted by the state police command over an attack and looting of Warri-based shopping mall, Shoprite.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Delta State, Alkali Baba Usman, who declared Henry wanted on Tuesday while briefing newsmen in Asaba on the activities of hoodlums in the state, said that any information that leads to Henry’s arrest would be rewarded with N1 million.
Parading one Godspower Ijoesgaga as a suspect of the Shoprite attack along with 23 suspects of kidnapping and arm robbery at the police headquarters in Asaba, CP Alkali said that on January 8, the DPO of Ekpan Division received a distress call from the Manager of Shoprite that the mall was under attack by hoodlums.
Alkali noted that on seeing the policemen, the miscreants took to their heels while one of them identified as Godspower Ijoesgaga was arrested and had reportedly confessed to the crime.
“Preliminary inquiries revealed that the miscreants who damage and looted various items such as laptops, handsets etc from the shopping complex were hired and let on the mischievous mission by one Baro Henry, the suspended chairman of Uvwie local government council and Napoleon Odibu the chairman of Central Motor Park, Effurun, who are on the run,” Alkali stated.
He said after the hoodlums left the shopping mall, they embarked on a protest along some streets in Warri, shooting sporadically and in the process, one Afor Emero was killed by stray bullets.
Also, the Police in Delta paraded 23 kidnappers among were five who were fighting over the sharing of ransom received from the relations of one Ochuko Evelyn who was kidnapped on January 6 in Oghara.
“The DPO Sapele Division received information that some suspected hoodlums were fighting in the area. Consequently, the patrol team mobilised to the scene and arrested the five suspects,” the CP said.
