The Delta State Police Command has paraded 19 suspected criminals for various crime in the state.
The Delta Police commissioner (CP) Alkali Baba Usman who paraded the suspects at the Police Headquarters, Asaba, said the command has achieved results in the fight against crime due to cooperation of well-meaning people in the state.
The CP said that the offences for which the suspects were arrested included from kidnapping, robbery, murder, cultism and car snatching.
While parading the 19 suspects, the police chief stated that the kidnappers collected the ransom of N1 million from their victim, one Prince Onovirighose and later killed him at Oghara town in Ethiope West Council of the state.
He said the detective arrested one Oyibo Shell, Efe Solobia and Ambrose Omoriyi who, after confessing to the crime, mentioned other two members of the gang who are presently on the run.
Usman stated that one locally made single barrel gun and three lives cartridges were recovered from the hoodlums.
On the suspected cultists, the commissioner said they were arrested by police operatives from Oghara Division along Otofe Oghara when they intercepted an unregistered tricycle with four occupants who were on unable give a satisfactory account of themselves.
The suspects, who are alleged members of Vikings Confraternity took the police to their hideout in Ughelli where a locally made pistol and charms were found.
Uman added that two suspected armed robbers – Ochuko Owene and Super Okoro – were arrested by a team of soldiers serving at 3 Battalion, Effuru after a gun battle and were later handed over to police for prosecution
He said the hoodlums who were found with one locally made revolver pistol and one cutlass would soon be arraigned in court.
