DHQ Commends OPFY Troops Over Sustained Pressure On Terrorists, Others

The Assessment Team of the Nigeria Defence Headquarters have commended troops of Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY) for their sustained pressure and victory over terrorists and all other criminal elements in the North West and North Central areas of the country. 

Making the commendation during a visit to the OPFY Headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara state, the DHT leader

 Maj.-Gen WB Idris, said the visit was to, amongst others things, ensure that troops were in tune with the desired objective of the operation as well as reinforce inter-agency collaboration and identify oppurtunities for improvement. 

The visit will also help in boosting troops’ morale, validate ongoing efforts, and reaffirm the government’s commitment to restoring peace and security in the region.

A statement by Captain David Adewusi, the Media Information Officer Operation FANSAN YAMMA, quoted Idris as saying the importance of continuous evaluation of joint operations is to ensure alignment with the military’s strategic objectives and the national aim of setting up the Joint Task Force”.

This, he maintained, will help them assess the current state of operational activities, reinforce inter-agency collaboration, and identify opportunities for improving the overall effectiveness of counterterrorism and anti-banditry efforts across the region”. 

While praising the  professionalism and coordination displayed by troops, including personnel of various security agencies involved in the ongoing OPFY operations, Idris lauded the resilience and dedication of the troops in the face of the challenging terrain and the complex security threats they confront daily. 

Continuing, Idris appealed to troops of the operation to not only maintain the current tempo but also embrace enhanced coordination among security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to maximize operational efficiency.

Responding to the assessment visit, the Theatre Commander of OPFY, Maj.-Gen Oluyinka Soyele, expressed appreciation for the DHQ Team’s visit, saying it is a vital step towards strengthening field operations. 

Soloye, who reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining operational effectiveness, also emphasised the importance of motivating troops and fostering seamless collaboration among all security stakeholders.

Highlight of the teams assessement was the visit to some frontline troops in Kwotorkoshi and Tsafe, in Bungudu and Tsafe Local Government Areas of Zamfara State, where Maj.-Gen Idris commended the troops’ efforts and encouraged them to remain focused on achieving the mandate of OPFY.
