Earth Tremor: Kaduna Advises Kwoi Community To Relocate

In a bid to guard against future reoccurrence of Earth Tremor witnessed in Kwoi town, the headquarters of Jaba Local Government in Kaduna State last year, residents have been sensitized on the risks associated with the phenomenon and advised to relocate.
Addressing residents of Kwoi at a town-hall meeting on Wednesday, Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Kaduna State Mrs. Amina Dyeris Sajuwade, said the decision was to curb loss of lives and property, should it reoccur in future.
The commissioner said government would continue to engage specialists to detect the causes and effect of the tremor before it occur in the future, stressing the commitment of Governor Nasiru el-Rufai towards safe guarding lives and properties of all citizens in the state.
In a remark, the state Stakeholders Relations Commissioner, Balarabe Shehu Giwa, stressed the importance for the affected community to consider relocating to safe places to avert possible disaster via the tremor in future.
Administrator, Jaba Local Government, Peter Simon, in appreciating the concern of the state government described the tremor experience as worrisome and urged the affected community to take preventive measures to save lives and properties.
His Highness, the Kpop Ham, Dr. Danladi Gyet Maude, who was represented by the Galadiman Jaba, Mr. Kyom Maigari appreciated the state government and sympathizers for identifying with the Ham community over the incident.
However, a cross section of those affected by the tremor, raised concerns over the relocation idea, considering the economic recession in the country.
