The Aniocha North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Chuks Oseme, has charged the youth and the people of the council area to be steadfast especially this period of economic recession facing the country.
The council boss, who gave the charged at that stakeholders/security meeting in Issele-uku the council headquarters, said that security was everyone business
According to chairman, “as we enter ’ember months’ this meeting became very necessary for the forthcoming Christmas season when crime rate increases.
“But as the chief security officer of the council I urge you to be steadfast. We are aware of hunger in the land, but do not go into crime. Rather go back to farm we were known with and make your ends meet,” chairman charged.
Oseme said that social amenities like electricity and good road were capable of increasing the economic wellbeing of the council, noting that bad road was the biggest problem facing the council. He added that the council was working assiduously in spreading electricity to other community
Speaking at the meeting, the police, DSS and Civil Defence, who spoke separately commended the council boss for organising the stakeholders/ security meeting to proffers solution in security matters.
While the security agents commended the people of Aniocha North for having a crime-free zone, they urged them to be free in providing accurate information on criminal activities.
“There is adequate security in Aniocha North. Since I resume as DPO in Issele-uku, we have not records any kidnapping or robbery case here. Give us accurate information and be assure of our protection,” the DPO assured.
The police called on the youth to desist from cultism and described cultism as “mother of all crime” that needs intelligence in combating.
Highpoint of the occasion was flag off of Issele-uku/ Issele-Mkpitime road rehabilitation to ease the movement of motorist especially during ’ember season.
Inspecting the project, the council chairman said that the rehabilitation was Phase 1, which will be completed in December.
He said: “We are try to target between now and December to complete the rehabilitation, though the rain usually disturb us now but we are trying to complete the Phase 1, and go into Phase 2 because it is on-going project.
“We know that lack of fund is our problem in this local government but we are concentrating on our IGR, and also going into advocacy, getting some partners especially people that have investment here. That is how we were able to achieve the little we could do.
While the chairman commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for graciously approving the Ugbodu/Ukwu-nzu/Obamkpa road,in Aniocha North Area, he enjoined the people of the council area to be patients with the government, saying it is capable of delivering the dividends of democracy to them.
