President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inaugural trip to the meeting of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) may have handed a lifeline to National Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, to lobby harder for his continued stay in the exalted office as the APC has postponed its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting earlier scheduled for today, Monday 10 May, 2023, where forces against Adamu were reportedly expected to push for his ouster.

A statement in Abuja by the National Secretary of the APC, Sen. Iyiola Omisore, announced the NEC postponement to 18-19, July 2023.

Omisore wrote: “Members of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are hereby informed that our meetings of 10th and 11th of July, 2023, have been postponed to the 18th and 19th of July, 2023, respectively.

“The postponement is necessitated by the regional and sub-regional schedules and engagements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Inconveniences regretted.”

President Tinubu is currently in Guinea Bissau where has been elected the new ECOWAS chairman.
