El-Rufai Breaks ASUU Strike, Orders KASU To Resume May 9

Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru el-Rufai, has moved against the on-going nationwide strike by the Academic Staff Unions of Universities (ASUU) as he has order both staff and students of the Kaduna State University (KASU) to resume academic activities in the school on 9 May, 2022.

   A circular which originated from the Office of the Registrar of KASU dated 26 April, 2022 directed “all staff and students of the University” that the school “will continue its activities for the Second Semester, 2020/2021 Academic Session on Monday 9 May, 2022”

  The memo advised staff and students “to abide by the Academic Calendar”.

  The import of the circular is that KASU ASUU would have to pull out of the ongoing national strike, a development which might trigger a domino effect among the universities, especially state universities, who might want to go the KASU way too since they claimed that what ASUU was fighting for concerned federal universities more than their state counterparts.   Below is the KASU memo:
