President, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Market Women Association, Madam Felicia Sani, has warned youth and political leaders in Nigeria to shun all forms of violence in Saturday’s area council polls in the FCT as well as in the 2023 General Elections.
Also, Madam Sani has advised separatist agitators in the country to return to the path of national unity and drop their quests to break away from Nigeria.
Madam Sani issued the admonitions on Tuesday at a stakeholders’ forum organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja as part of the commission’s sensitisation and preparations for Saturday’s area council elections in the FCT.
Sani, who observed that youth readily make themselves available to politicians to use as thugs and perpetrators of violence during elections, pointedly told the young Nigerians at the forum: “Don’t kill yourself for politicians; there is life after elections.”
The FCT markets women’s chieftain also commended INEC for its innovative ideas towards sanitising the electoral processes, especially the commission’s injection of cutting-edge technological solutions into voting in Nigeria, saying these “have contributed immensely to the growth, emancipation and upliftment of Nigeria and the citizenry.”
Madam Sani therefore, called on all eligible Nigerian to go get themselves registered and obtain their permanent voters card in order to participate actively in the electoral process, with a view to electing credible leaders in the country.
“I’ll not die until Nigeria gets to where it was before. I pray to God for this daily,” Madam Sani said.
She also thanked the Minister of the FCT, Musa Sani Bello, “for been one Nigerian who loves the country very much and I urge you all, particularly those agitating to break away from Nigeria, to love this country like the honourable minister of the FCT.”
