Misfortune struck on Valentine’s Day as the residence of a retired manager of N.T.A Kafanchan sub-station, Kaduna state, Mr. Mamman Jaggai Yashi, was gutted by fire.
At about 10:15a.m, in the morning, a thick smoke rose suddenly over the residence of Mr Yashi, along Jema’a Local Government secretariat road, Kafanchan, attracting neighbours and curious passers-by. Before fire fighters could come to the scene, the entire four bedroom bungalow was engulfed in a fire. Fire fighters battled in vain for over 40 minutes to put out the fire which burnt everything, leaving the building without a roof.
Property worth hundreds of thousands naira were gutted as residents were said to have travelled out. Mr. Mamman Yashi retired last year, after putting up 35 years of meritorious service at the N.T.A The cause of the fire disaster was yet to be determined.
However, from the look of things, Mr Yashi and his family require urgent assistance from members of the public, private and public institutions, to enable them start life again, after losing all they had.
