A fire outbreak has gutted a block of six classrooms at the permanent site of the Kaduna State College Education, Gidan Waya.
The fire, which source was yet to be established, reportedly started at about 10:00am on Tuesday, while students were receiving lectures. The incident, which recorded no casualties, affected classes of the Primary Education Studies Department built in 2009.
Commenting on the development, Provost of the College, Mrs Hope Joseph Gajere, described the fire outbreak as “unfortunate.” She said all efforts to put out the fire, including those of the fire service department in Kafanchan, failed.
The Provost said the school authority had since made alternative arrangements for the students of the affected department.
Mrs Gajere appealed to the Kaduna State government to consider the possibility of coming to the aid of institution by rehabilitating the destroyed structure.
